The Concept
AN OPPORTUNITY
The Cape Town region needs additional
tourism infrastructure and particularly infrastructure
that will create opportunities for the display of the
scenic beauty of the area.
The proposal is to create a fun
product that will be a major attraction to tourists (and
locals) and which creates benefits for the business
shareholders, the landowners, the service providers, the
regional economy and the local community.

The project essentially consists of –
-
A well-planned
gateway entrance to the Table
Mountain National Park located in close proximity to the
Cape Town CBD and planned to anticipate the needs of
parking, service, retail and commercial business, and
well-maintained ablution facilities.
-
A chair lift
or gondola facility
that will transport patrons
to the crest of Signal Hill.
-
A view site facility complete with a carefully
designed non-protruding restaurant and public ablutions.
-
A series of
graded tracks down the slope of
Signal Hill leading back to the gateway on which fun
rides down on gravity vehicles with safe steering and
braking equipment can be enjoyed.
STRATEGY
The essential concept is to create a
private/public partnership that combines the
entrepreneurial expertise of the private business sector
with the service providing authorities of Table Mountain
National Park and Cape Town City Council and the owner
of the Magazine site, the Public Works Department.
The financial and business risk will
be underwritten by the private business sector with the
service providing authorities only assuming the
responsibility for adequate provision of such services.
Surpluses generated from the business
entity will then be distributed in a pre-agreed ratio to
the respective partners. |
